Recently the World Wildlife Fund released its Living Planet Report 2012. Scientists believe that by 2030 even two planets will not be enough for satisfying our consumption as we’re using 50% more natural resources than the Earth can provide.  

A Peace Corps public health education volunteer Kate Borkowski from Ann Arbor, Michigan, the USA in collaboration with her community in Mongolia is to open a nurse training facility for 135 nurses and lab in the local hospital, where the nurses will be able to learn basic and advanced nursing skills and improve current practices through hands-on trainings and seminars. The facility is set to open in July, 2012 and aims at improving the quality of health care available to patients from across the region.  

The newly established "United Association of Mongolian Shamans" has held a ceremony to worship the Kherlen, Onon and Tuul rivers on May 15, 2012.

The World Metrology Day is celebrated on May 20th, which is the day of ratification of the Metric Convention 1875, signed by delegations of 17 countries. However, this day is to be celebrated on May 18, 2012, in Mongolia under the slogan "We will measure your safety", where the Mongolian Agency for Standardization and Metrology will organize a meeting and a seminar.

"Arts and Journalism" seminar under an initiation by the Arts Council of Mongolia with a support from the USA Embassy in Mongolia and Open Society Forum is to be hosted at the Mongolian National History Museum on May 18-19, 2012.

With the initiation by N.Khurelbaatar, Member of the Cabinet and Minister for Health of Mongolia, an "Award named after the Minister for Health" has been newly created after being discussed at the board meeting of the Ministry and been approved with solid voices on May 04, 2012.

Dr. Stuart Goldman's book "Nomonhan, 1939: The Red Army's Victory That Shaped World War II" has made its opening on May 12, 2012, at the Mongolian Embassy to the United States. Stuart D.Goldman is a scholar in residence at the National Council for Eurasian and East European Research in Washington, D.C.

Temporary rain is expected in the eastern part of the Central region and some parts of the Eastern region today on May 14, northern parts of the Western and Central regions on May 17, some parts of the Eastern region on May 18 and western part of the Western region on May 20 respectively.

The President of Mongolia Ts.Elbegdorj awarded the civilians who run extensive activities directed in protecting the nature and environment with state awards and banners on the occasion of the National Day of Planting Tree. 

At the press conference held on May 10, 2012 the team of Mongolsat project has announced to public that they were to launch the first ever Mongolian national satellite named "Mongolsat" by the first quarter of 2013. 

According to the report released by the National Statistical Office of Mongolia in the first 4 months of 2012, 23,895 mothers delivered 24,014 children (live births) increased by 2,361 mothers or 11.0 percent, and 2,333 children or 10.8 percent, compared to same period of the previous year. 

According to the Presidential Decree dated from April 14, 2010, the National Day of Planting Tree was announced to be organized on the second Saturday of May and October respectively of each year. Hence, this year the National Day for Planting Trees will be marked through the country on May 12, 2012.

A meeting between the National Emergency Management Authority (NEMA) and the Alaska National Guard (AKNG) of the USA under a name "Safety in Mining" with a purpose to share their experiences is ongoing in Ulaanbaatar on May 07-11, 2012. Starting from 2005, the Embassy of Mongolia to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland together with the Union of Mongolians in the Great Britain has annually hosted the "Development of Mongolia" Forum for Mongolians studying abroad with a purpose to be an encouragement for their future contribution into the development of their home country.

On May 09 of every year, the Russian people celebrate the anniversary of its victory over Nazi Germany in the World War II. 

The newly elected President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin has made a greeting speech for this 67th anniversary celebration festive of Russia, after which the military parade started following by the Russian national anthem. A total of 14,000 soldiers and officers from Russian navy, air force, land force, artillery force and space force divisions, and Moscow military force, have participated in the parade, where also over 100 military equipments were shown to the public.

In connection with the temporary closure of the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in Mongolia the Consular Department of the Embassy is closed starting from May 01, 2012. 

According to the National Emergency Management Agency of Mongolia (NEMA) as of today May 08, 2012, total of 10 wildfires are active in the territories of 6 sums (an administrative unit of aimag) of Selenge and Khuvsgul aimags, where 4 wildfires in Khuvsgul, Arkhangai and Dornod aimags have been isolated.

Mongolia will not need to employ foreign work force if it can train its own highly professional and highly competent vocational staff. As a result of many provisions led by the Government of Mongolia to develop vocational education, the capacity of vocational schools have increased, the citizens have acknowledged the value of vocational profession, aspiration of acquiring vocational profession is growing as well as the accommodation of these opportunities.

Governor of the Capital City and Mayor of Ulaanbaatar, G.Munkhbayar and his counterpart Reinhard Pass, Lord Mayor of Essen, the Federal Republic of Germany have signed the agreement for cooperation between the two cities in the fields of health sector in Ulaanbaatar on May 08, 2012.

In the recent, due to the increase of wolves in territory of the Buryat Republic, the Russian Federation, much casualty has occurred in the animal husbandry sector. It was a first in Buryatia, as a total of 293 wolves were hunted within the first 4 months of 2012.
