Mongolia-Russia joint military field exercise “Selenge 2011” is ongoingMongolia-Russia joint military training “Selenge 2011” is successfully being run at the “Tavan Tolgoi” training center in Mongolia (the military training facility 40 km away from Ulaanbaatar in Tuv aimag) between September 1 and September 10, 2011. 
The President of Mongolia and Commander-in-Chief of the Mongolian Armed Forces Ts.Elbegdorj visited the site on September 8th, where the Chief of the General Staff and major-general of the Armed Forces D.Bayarmagnai introduced on screen the training process of anti-terrorist operation. On the field practicing were 700 Mongolian and 250 Russian troops, participating in the drills and trying to fight illicit activities by organized crime and terrorist groups in the border regions. 
According to the presidential press and information office, the joint exercises would give great significance to strengthening the militant friendship, enhancing the cooperation practices of the armed forces, and realizing the agreements made between the two countries, pointed out Chief of the General Staff D.Bayarmagnai. 
The President Ts.Elbegdorj served in the military during 1982-1983; later enrolled into the Military Political Institute in Lviv city (Ukraine) former USSR who graduated in 1988. Before, he used to work as a reporter for the Ulaan-Od (Red Star) newspaper issued by Mongolian People’s Army.
