The regular
cabinet meeting was held on November 30th, 2011, where discussions and decisions were made on several issues and one of these was an air pollution reduction.
The work plan to reduce air pollution was ratified by the cabinet meeting, where L.Gansukh (Minister for Nature, Environment and Tourism of Mongolia), D.Zorigt (Minister for Mineral Resources and Energy of Mongolia) and Kh.Battulga (Minister for Road, Transportation, Construction and Urban Development of Mongolia) were entrusted with the implementation and quarterly feedback on the execution of the work process. Many works are on the go according to the plan, such as determining air quality increase zones, expanding the electricity network in the Ger districts by making studies on power enhancement, reduce electricity prices by 50% for qualified homes, start the construction of the 5th and 6th power plants this year enabling the work by 2013, partly connect the low pressure boilers to the heating system, establish a semi-coke fuel complex, invent and test a home gas stove, releasing government bonds to raise the required fund and releasing soft loans. In the framework of the Governmental decree, works are done in the scope of a goal to reduce the air pollution by 50% in 2011-2012, by 80% in 2012-2013 and to reduce the
city’s pollution to the standard level, harmless to the environment and human health in 2013-2014 accordingly.
