The teachers formed the Strike Organizing Provisional Commission
Yesterday, the teachers longing for a salary raise waited to meet the Minister for Education, Culture and Science Yo.Otgonbayar, Minister for Social Welfare and Labor T.Gandi and Minister for Finance S.Bayartsogt, however the Ministers had failed to arrive.  
On Monday of this week the first strike occurred between the kindergarten teachers for two hours, stressing the parents, whereas as the second reminding strike occurred this Wednesday between secondary school teachers also for two hours. Over 10,000 teachers of 101 kindergartens, 108 secondary schools participated in this strike, where the teachers’ labor union announced if the Government does not change its decision; an undated strike will be held nationwide starting next week. 
Yesterday, 300 teachers gathered at the Cultural Palace of the Confederation of Mongolian Trade Union, and have formed the Strike Organizing Provisional Commission. Teachers from the rural areas and over 10,000 teachers in the city have signed and admitted to the undated strike. From the 73,000 teachers in Mongolia, 44,000 serve in secondary schools and 16,000 are preschool educators, whereas the rest are lecturers in higher education institutes. 
The Government of Mongolia, together with the Confederation of Mongolian Trade Unions and the Mongolian Employers’ Federation has decided to raise the salary of the teacher with 80,000 MNT starting March 1st, 2012 and by 23% starting May 1st, 2012. However the teachers objected and held demonstrations starting last September. They are demanding to provide the 80,000 MNT raise starting January 1st and the 23% raise before the Lunar New Year Holiday.
