The London-2012 Olympics is about 120 more days away. Thus during the regular executive board meeting of the Mongolian National Olympic Committee, the Prime Minister of Mongolia and Chief of the National Committee for Olympic Preparation, S.Batbold imposed a duty to effectively schedule this short time and to intensify the preparations and trainings for the Olympics.
In 2011, the Government of Mongolia has spent a total amount of 1.8 billion MNT (app. 1.4 million USD) on wages of the athletes of the National Team, associated trainings and gatherings, conduction of sports tournaments and on costs applied on improving materialistic, garment and equipment courses of the team.
As of 2012, the Government has planned to spend a total of 4.1 billion MNT (app. 3 million USD) accordingly. The athletes of the National Team have participated in 63 continental, worldwide and Olympic qualification international tournaments throughout 2011 and obtained a total of 224 medals. Which is a high record unseen in recent past years and a ration of silver and gold medals have been increased.
Currently, Mongolia has obtained
12 berths for the London-2012, the XXX Summer Olympic Games and 9 berths for the XIV Paralympic Games as of today. During the meeting Ch.Naranbaatar, Chairman of the Mongolian State Committee of Physical Culture and Sports told the Prime Minister that the athletes were aiming to participate in the upcoming Olympics with no less than 30 berths.
Moreover, the ceremonial costumes for the athletes of the National Team for the “London-2012” Olympics are to be crafted by the “Shilmel Zagvar” company and Japanese АSICS brand is chosen as track suits in accordance with the athletes’ request.
