Who said what?
The arrest of the former President N.Enkhbayar has caused ruckus as in Mongolia as in foreign countries. InfoMongolia.com is delivering a brief on "Who said what?".
Police Colonel T.Sainjargal:
The Head of the Public Relations Office, General Police Department, Police Colonel T.Sainjargal said, “These measures were taken in accordance with the resolution released by the Independent Authority Against Corruption. As sited on the criminal interrogation law, it says “…when a suspect, victim or convict repeatedly fails to arrive at the time of summoning, the subject will be summoned by force”. The police officers are to execute this operation. From yesterday evening to 07:00am this morning, around 300 police officers were on duty to adhere public order. Not one police official used a weapon.”
Member of Parliament Ts.Shinebayar:
Member of the State Great Khural (Parliament) Ts.Shinebayar said, “As an eye-witness to the happening, I will say it was a very savage, barbarian operation. As for N.Enkhbayar, he is a person under the state special protection. The matter of invading his full power should have been taken into account after an annulment of his right by means of a Parliamentary resolution. Also, this person is under the state special protection up to this day, thus he was to be confined in the detention center together with his guardsmen.”
Human Rights Lawyer M.Ichinnorov:
Human Rights Lawyer, member of the MPP’s Baga Khural (MPP Congress) M.Ichinnorov said, “Law enforcement organizations have impudently performed the arrest of the Head of Mongolian People’s Revolutionary Party (MPRP) N.Enkhbayar, and have boldly violated human rights. Starting today, I am joining the struggle to free N.Enkhbayar. I hereby pronounce my withdrawal from the Mongolian People’s Party (MPP).”
Head of the Investigative Department of the IAAC E.Amarbat:
Head of the Investigative Department of the Independent Authority Against Corruption (IAAC) E.Amarbat said, “The court order was released for the arrest of the Head of Mongolian People’s Revolutionary Party N.Enkhbayar. We have been investigating N.Enkhbayar for about 1 year. During the investigations, we repeatedly delivered summons through his lawyer to familiarize with case materials and experts’ assessments. However, as he failed to arrive, we delivered a request to detain to the authorized organizations, thus we made the arrest in accordance with the law.”
Head of the MPP Group at the Parliament U.Enkhtuvshin:
Head of the MPP Group at the State Great Khural (Parliament) U.Enkhtuvshin said, “On April 13, 2012, the former President of Mongolia, Head of MPRP N.Enkhbayar was detained by force. The Independent Authority Against Corruption launched criminal case investigations on citizen N.Enkhbayar and requested detainment and preventive measures, to which the Prosecutor Office gave an approval and the court judge released an ordinance. We pronounce that our Party does not have any involvement in this happening. I would like to note, that the decision makers of the Anti Corruption Authority, prosecutor and court organizations act independently from the Parliament, Government and political parties and forces."
