The Head of the Mongolian People's Revolutionary Party (MPRP), the third President of Mongolia N.Enkhbayar, who was arrested for
corruption convictions and had declared a
hunger strike, was released on bail yesterday at 03:30pm.
Related materials to his case were transferred from the General Prosecutor’s Office to the Sukhbaatar District Court, where N.Enkhbayar was released on bail after familiarizing with these materials. The Head of the Sukhbaatar District Court Governing Office D.Batsaikhan arrived at the
Second General Hospital to present the resolution to N.Enkhbayar. As cited in this resolution, “With the Sukhbaatar District Court ordinance number 386 from May 14, 2012, the Head of MPRP N.Enkbayar is released on bail under the custody of his spouse O.Tsolmon, son E.Batshugar,
Secretary General of MPRP N.Udval and the Head of Mongolian National Democratic Party M.Enkhsaikhan.”
N.Enkhbayar, who had declared a hunger strike for 11 days, stopped his hunger strike as he was presented with the court decision. Also, the 15 people who had declared a hunger strike at the Monument for Victims of Political Repression to support N.Enkhbayar, have stopped their hunger strike as well. Currently, N.Enkhbayar is being treated in the
Second General Hospital. He has lost 16kg of weight, and according to MPRP members, he has changed to the point of being unrecognizable. Although, the Sukhbaatar District Court, N.Enkhbayar was released on bail due to his health conditions, some researchers deem that the bail was due to spread of the information of
N.Enkhbayar’s detainment worldwide and it had started to affect Mongolia’s reputation. Because, not only the Amnesty International Mongolia submitted a requirement to the Mongolian government, the UN Secretary General
Ban Ki-moon made a phone call to the President of Mongolia Ts.Elbegdorj and expressed his concern for N.Enkhbayar’s health.
