"Novosti Mongolii" (News of Mongolia), the first Mongolian newspaper in Russian language published by Mongolia's MONTSAME news agency, is celebrating its 70th anniversary.
The first issue of the newspaper which is considered to the eyes to see and ears to hear for Mongolian intellectuals of socialist times and Russian citizens residing in Mongolia was published in Russian language on May 02, 1942 during the hard years of the patriotic war of Soviet people against Hitler's fascism. 
The first editor of the newspaper was the Winner of State Prize, Academician and Professor Byamba RINCHEN, who was one of the founders of modern Mongolian literature and a scholar in various areas of Mongolian studies, especially linguistics. The journalists and correspondents of the “Novosti Mongolii” newspaper are to mark their 70th anniversary in Ulan-Ude the capital city of the Republic of Buryatia, Russian Federation on May 25, 2012 together with their counterparts of Buryatia. In frames of the celebration of the anniversary meetings with the Mayor of Ulan-Ude city, Buryatian journalists and readers of Ulan-Ude city will be organized, meanwhile with the photography exhibitions named “Mongolia and Mongolian traditional script” and “Mongolia-Russia relations”.
