Mongolian sumo wrestlers who rise to their own motherland's name in far away Japan had arrived in Mongolia to compete in the basketball match and do charity works. The 69th Yokozuna Hakuho M.Davaajargal presented gifts to kids from orphanages and child foster homes, where Ozeki Harumafuji D.Byambadorj handed over keys for an ambulance and a fire truck to the Child and Maternity Health Research Center.
One of the reasons for Mongolian fans to be waiting for their arrival was the "Golden stars of Great Mongolia-2" basketball match between Sumo and Traditional Mongolian wrestlers. In 2005, the first "Golden stars of Great Mongolia” basketball match was organized at an initiative by the 68th Yokozuna Asashoryu D.Dagvadorj, where sumo wrestlers won over the traditional wrestlers with much dominance. Thus, this year after seven years the Mongolian traditional wrestlers were saying that they would demand a rematch and of course the leader of the sumo wrestlers’ team Hakuho had no doubt that his team would win again as he said before the match started. The ticket to the match was 15,000 MNT and organizers of the competition stressed that all revenue from the match would go towards purchasing equipments for the Child and Maternity Health Research Center and furnishing and equipping the infant and newborn care unit. Before the match well known singer D.Jargalsaikhan of “Chinggis Khaan” band sang the Mongolian anthem and his “Athletes Fame” song followed by a basketball match between celebrities from sports and culture.
The sumo wrestlers’ team headed by Yokozuna Hakuho M.Davaajargal included Ozeki Harumafuji D.Byambadorj, Ozeki Kakuryu M.Anand, Kyokutenho N.Tsevegnyam, Asasekiryu B.Dashnyam, Tokitenku A.Khuchitbaatar, Kyokushuho T.Erdenebaatar, Ryuo E.Sanchirbold and Chiyoshima G.Munkhsaikhan, where a team of high ranked traditional wrestlers comprised of State Great Giant G.Usukhbayar, State Giant S.Munkhbat, State Lions Kh.Munkbaatar and D.Gankhuag, State Garudas N.Ganbaatar, J.Bat-Erdene and M.Bayarjavkhalan, State Elephants D.Ragchaa and Ch.Sanjaadamba. The World Champion of Judo wrestling and a State Merit athlete Kh.Tsagaanbaatar competed in the sumo wrestlers’ team.
The game started with a successful beginning by sumo wrestlers and concluded the first quarter of the game with 9:6. In the second quarter N.Ganbaatar and G.Usukhbayar from the traditional wrestling team made several offences bringing the scores closer but Ozeki Kakuryu interrupted their hope earning more scores by long distance shots finishing the second quarter with 12-10 keeping their glory.  After the second quarter they competed in a rope pulling contest, where the sumo wrestlers’ team also celebrated their might. The 100 m race organized after the rope pulling contest ended in a draw between Harumafuji D.Byambadorj and State Elephant M.Usukhbayar. When the 3rd quarter started the strength of sumo wrestlers’ team was almost strained as their top players were a bit worn out after the rope pulling contest and 100 m race. Taking advantage of their opponent’s weakness young State Giant S.Munkhbat made several definite offenses, where M.Bayarjavkhalan from the traditional wrestlers’ team made a use of his height neatly blocking Kyokutenho N.Tsevegnyam and Kyokushuho T.Erdenebaatar bringing the scores at 21:14 and made it clear that the traditional wrestlers would win the game. The team succeeded in keeping their pace and shuffled their team with substitute players after the scores were brought to 26:16.  With the new players the traditional wrestlers’ team finished the game with much dominance by 33:19.
Today on May 25, the sumo wrestlers have left for Japan.
