The new e-ID card printing has started
The State Great Khural (Parliament) of Mongolia has resolved to issue a new electronic ID card to those civilians who have lost their ID card prior to the Parliamentary and Capital City Representative Khural Elections to be held on June 28, 2012 and who holds a reference to receive the new card.
The Chairman of the General Authority for State Registration L.Amarsanaa addressed a press conference regarding the issuance of the new e-ID card. According to a statement between December 26, 2011 and May 01, 2012, a total of 64,940 civilians requested a reference on their lost, stolen or missing ID cards; among those people over 40 thousand are the people of a legitimate age of voting. Thus the Government imposed duties to issue the new e-ID card to those people before elections.
The printing of the new e-ID card has started from May 25, 2012. The Authority is scheduling to finish the printing of 40 thousand e-ID cards by June 10 and issuance on civilian hands by June 25, 2012. Citizens shall receive their new e-ID card from the administration of local district and khoroo (administrative unit of district). As cited in the law of Mongolia the new e-ID card will be issued free of charge once to Mongolian citizens, thus those 40 thousand people will receive their cards without paying any fees.
