On May 29, 2012, the President of Mongolia Tsakhia Elbegdorj received the President of the Council of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Mr. Roberto Kobe Gonzales, who is on an official working visit to Mongolia.
At the beginning of the meeting the President Ts.Elbegdorj warmly welcomed the President of ICAO Mr. Gonzales to Mongolia and thanked him on paying a visit to our country.
President of ICAO Mr. Gonzales introduced the purpose of his visit to the President Ts.Elbegdorj and noted, “As a president of ICAО, I’m here to get familiarized with the operations of the
civil aviation sector of your country which is a member of ICAO. We will get personally introduced with the results of the two audits monitoring conducted by the international organization in the fields of flight safety operations. In other words we are here to carry out a significant check up in the Mongolian civil aviation industry but from the other side it can be deemed that the ICAO is recognizing the participation of Mongolian civil aviation sector at an international level as its reputation in the global arena has dramatically increased. At global average the rate for flight safety operations is estimated at 57%. If we put the results of the two audits monitoring together the result will be totalized at 88 points which ranks Mongolia at 15th place in world chart and at 5th place in the Asia chart, where it truly reflects Mongolia’s success within the sector and its hard work. In further, Mongolia shall keep moving forward and try not to go down from this success. As of today, approximately over one million
passengers get served with Mongolian civil aviation and affiliated with the current rapid economic growth this estimate is predicted to reach 1.6 million by 2016. Thus, in order to keep up with such pace Mongolian civil aviation shall show a high performance”.
At the end of the meeting the President of Mongolia Ts.Elbegdorj awarded the President of the Council of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Mr. Roberto Kobe Gonzales with “Nairamdal” or “Friendship” medal for his valuable commitment in developing a partnership between Mongolia and ICAO.
