The proposal given by the Citizens Representative Council of Ulaanbaatar City and Aimags to privatize 22.8 thousand hectares of land for private ownership nationwide was discussed and adopted with the Cabinet regular meeting held on May 30, 2012. 

Accordingly, 21.8 thousand hectares of land will be privatized for household purposes free of charge and 0.96 thousand hectares are to be privatized for enterprise purposes.

According to final estimates of the year 2011, a total of 29,917 citizens have privatized 3,071.23 hectares of land for household purposes. Land privatization is active at 25% in aimags of Umnugovi, Govisumber, Dornod, Tuv and Bulgan, whereas it is relatively slow at 7.82% in aimags of Zavkhan, Khuvsgul, Bayan-Ulgii, Uvs and Govi-Altai, said officials.
