The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) is the largest regional security organization that offers a forum for political negotiations and decision-making in the fields of early warning, conflict prevention, crisis management and post-conflict rehabilitation, and puts the political will of its participating States into practice through its unique network of field missions. The Organization comprises of 56 participating States from Europe, Central Asia and North America.
Mongolia has submitted an
official request for membership to OSCE in the fall of 2011. Regarding this, a team of delegations from OSCE Administration, Secretary Office and other affiliate organizations headed by the Ambassador E.O’Leary, Chairperson of the OSCE Permanent Council and Ireland's Permanent Representative to the OSCE, and OSCE Secretary General L.Zannier are to make an official visit to
Mongolia on June 03-06, 2012.
During their visit, the Chairperson of the OSCE Permanent Council E.O’Leary and OSCE Secretary General L.Zannier are to pay a visit to the Prime Minister of Mongolia S.Batbold and meet with the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade G.Zandanshatar, Minister for Defense J.Enkhbayar and the Head of the Standing Committee on Security and Foreign Policy of the State Great Khural (Parliament) E.Munkh-Ochir.
Also, during the visit, OSCE Secretary General L.Zannier will make a visit to the Strategic Research Institute, where he will hold a lecture on the activities of OSCE.
The delegations are to report to the OSCE Permanent Council about their visit to Mongolia, where discussions would be held on the issue of
Mongolian admission to OSCE, reported the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Mongolia.
