The 9th meeting of Culture Ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) took place in Beijing, People's Republic of China on June 04, 2012, where Cai Wu, China's Culture Minister delivered a speech opening the meeting. 

Over 40 representatives and Cultural Ministers from more than 12 countries have attended the meeting including 6 Culture Ministers and Deputy Ministers from SCO member states, representatives from observer states including Pakistan, Iran, India and Mongolia and also dialogue partners comprising of Belarus and Sri-Lanka and as well as the guest state of Afghanistan. 

A team of delegations led by D.Dalaijargal, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science of Mongolia attended the meeting with an observer status representing Mongolia. 

At the meeting, the State Secretary D.Dalaijargal delivered a speech mentioning Mongolia’s keen interest in actively taking part in the political and economical integration of the Central Asia region, adding that Mongolia has been attaching a high priority in its contribution to the cultural and humanitarian cooperation of the SCO. 

Further, the State Secretary D.Dalaijargal noted the main objective of the meeting is to map out a development plan for the SCO's cultural cooperation for the next decade would also be of a greater significance to Mongolia, who is under an intensive social and economical transformation. 

Also, senior official of the Communist Party of China Li Changchun said, "Regular meetings between SCO culture ministers have provided an important institutional guarantee for the comprehensive boost of cultural interactions and cooperation within the SCO framework, while each previous meeting has ensured a bright prospect for the cultural relations of the SCO".
At the meeting it has been resolved to hold the next 10th meeting of Culture Ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Kyrgyz Republic in 2013.
