The President of Mongolia Tsakhia Elbegdorj is attending the 12th
Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit being held in Beijing, People's Republic of China, on June 06-07, 2012.
During the opening ceremony of the summit, the Mongolian President Ts.Elbegdorj met with the President of the Russian Federation V.V.Putin, President of Kazakhstan N.Nazarbaev, President of Afghanistan H.Karzai and the President of Uzbekistan I.Karimov, where Ts.Elbegdorj exchanged opinions on bilateral relations and cooperation and issues to be discussed at the summit.
On June 07, 2012, the President of Mongolia Ts.Elbegdorj has made a speech at the 12th Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit. The President expressed that Mongolia is giving high significance on the involvement in the SCO, which is shaping into an important mechanism on providing security and enhancing social and economic development for the Central Asian region, and on behalf of Mongolian delegations, the President Ts.Elbegdorj congratulated Afghanistan for receiving their observer’s status in SCO and to Turkey for receiving their dialogue partner’s status in SCO.
President Ts.Elbegdorj said, “Within the framework of SCO,
Mongolia is interested in cooperating in many sectors, such as economy, culture, education, health, nature and environment, prevention of natural disasters and reducing disaster casualties. Also, Mongolia seeks to enhance its cooperation in the fields of combating drugs, narcotics and terrorism. In the future, Mongolia will continuously administer its policy to expand its involvement in the SCO operation on mutually beneficial grounds.”
