The World Opera Competition "The Placido Domingo's Operalia" named after the world famous famed opera singer Placido Domingo is ongoing at the Beijing National Stadium also known as the "Bird's Nest" on June 04-10, 2012.
A total of 40 competitors between the ages of 18 and 32 years old from across the globe of voice types of both male and female have competed in the preliminary rounds of the competition, whereas twenty of them have been chosen to compete in the semi-finals. A State Honored Artist and soloist at the State Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet of Mongolia
Enkhbat AMARTUVSHIN was included in the Top 20.
Today, on June 07, those 20 singers are to compete singing 1 aria chosen for them respectively by the official Jury and only 10 of them will be selected to perform in the Gala Concert at the Concert Hall of National Grand Theatre of Beijing and that will be conducted by Maestro Placido Domingo himself.
The World Opera Competition was founded in 1993 and previously has been hosted in France, Mexico, Spain, Japan, Germany, the USA, Austria, Bulgaria, Hungary, Italy and the Russian Federation, where this year the People’s Republic of China was chosen to host the competition.
A total amount of the prize fund is 180,000.00 USD plus two Rolex brand wristwatches - the general sponsor of the competition. First place holders of female and male singers will be granted with 30 thousand USD each, where the second place winners (male and female singer) will be granted with 20 thousand USD each and the third place winners with 10 thousand USD accordingly. Also, more singers will be awarded with prizes in different categories including Birgit Nilsson Prize, Audience Prize and many more.
