A tournament held in the name of 1976 Olympic Champion John Peterson
The U.S. based "Athletes in Action" Club that operates one of the activities in Mongolia has successfully co-organized the VI Junior and Youth Freestyle Wrestling Tournament named after John Peterson, the famous wrestler of U.S., Olympic Gold (1976) and Silver (1972), World Championship Silver (1971) and Bronze (1973) medalist, at the Central Sports Palace in Ulaanbaatar on June 05-06, 2012. 
The tournament was previously held in the years of 2001-2004, and 2011 accordingly and this year  the 2012 tournament was organized by the Mongolian Wrestling Federation, Athletes in Action Mongolia and Mongol Clubs.
A total of 268 boys, girls and young wrestlers from 29 clubs and sports committees of aimag and city have participated in this tournament, whereas there were 7 wrestlers from the U.S., 10 from Shiliin Gol aimag (Xilingol prefecture) of the Autonomous Region of Inner Mongolia, People’s Republic of China, and 2 wrestlers from Buryat Republic, the Russian Federation. 
Starting today, the medal winners of the tournament and foreign wrestlers are to participate in a 7-day joint training venture at the Olympic training center in Orkhon aimag. 
The “Athletes in Action” club is based in Zino, State of Ohio, U.S. The Director of the club is the Olympic Champion John Peterson, where it is the 11th visit to Mongolia for him. This club was established in 1964 and has branches in 85 countries. The Athletes in Action, Mongolia was opened in 1999, where the Mongolian famous wrestler, International Master of Sports S.Sukhbaatar currently works as the Manager.
