Commemorating the 850th anniversary of the birth of Chinggis Khaan and the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the National University of Mongolia (NUM), the Institute for Mongol Studies of the NUM is to host an international scientific conference, "Mongolian Studies - New Approaches" in Ulaanbaatar on August 16-17, 2012. 

The conference will target to address problematic issues in various fields of Mongolian studies, to propose new opinions on how to solve those issues, to enhance research methods and experiences of researchers on Mongol studies, to open up opportunities to learn from established senior scientists, to cooperate with international bodies, interchange information and to introduce new methods and facts into scientific research projects. The participants of the “Mongolian Studies - New Approaches” scientific conference will deliver a presentation on following topics:

- Mongolian society and politics 

- Mongolian culture and history 

- Mongolian philology and literature 

- Nomadic civilization
