State Emergency Committee held a meeting and discussed about wildfire conditions on 19th of April, 2011. Currently, wildfires in Bugat sum of Bulgan aimag, Under-Ulaan sum of Arkhangai, Mungunmorit and Batsumber sums of Tuv aimag, Khan-Uul and Songinokhairkhan districts of Ulaanbaatar city are suppressed and firefighter are trying to contain them. According to Weather and Environmental Study Office’s report wildfire is imminent in Erdenemandal sum of Arkhangai aimag, Kharkhorin sum of Uvurkhangai, Bugat and Inget Tolgoi sums of Bulgan aimag, Erdenet sum of Orkhon aimag, Orkhon, Yeruu, Baruunkharaa, Zuunkharaa, Orkhontuul, and Tsagaannuur sums of Selenge aimag, Darkhan sum of Darkhan-Uul aimag, Zuunmod, Ugtaal, Jargalant, and Bayanchandman sums of Tuv aimag, Baruun-Urt sum of Sukhbaatar, Bayan-Ovoo, Dadal and Binder sums of Khentii aimag, Choibalsan and Dashlbalbar sums of Dornod aimag and wilderness region of Ulaanbaatar city.

Therefore, State Emergency Committee discussed the situation and issued an order. It was ordered to the Chief of State Emergency Committee and Deputy Prime Minister M.Enkbold to organize a preparation work against wildfire in wildfire imminent cities, aimags, sums, districts, sub districts and check general realization of Disaster prevention law, Wildfire prevention law, Fire safety law, and Environmental protection law, Government’s year 1999’s ruling “Wildfire prevention and actions to be taken on strengthening stock of wildfire extinguishers”, and “General plan for preventing wildfires” by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Environment and Tourism by 28th of April. And also, to renew the buffer zone in the areas where agricultural land borders with wilderness region, to limit any activity including wood preparation and vacationing in the forest zone until 10th of June, and between 20th of September and 10th of November, and to appoint horse patrol officer. The committee ordered Minister of Defense to get their men and equipments, and helicopters standby. The chief of the committee was warned that work of finding and charging the party who is responsible for wildfires is not sufficient, and Chief of Police was ordered to limit the vehicles in wilderness area and issue breakpoints. By 18th of April, 2011, 43 times of wildfires occurred in 33 sums of 21 aimags and 1,430,029 ha land burned. 11 times of wildfire occurred in Dornod aimag is the most number of occurrences in one aimag.
