With the Cabinet meeting held on June 20, the associate ministers and Ulaanbaatar city authorities were obliged to enhance the implementation of measures, being taken on the development of the ger districts that surround Ulaanbaatar city.
In the framework of the ger district development programs, the batch legislation on land and the legislation on
land registration were discussed with the State Great Khural (Parliament), where a project is being developed on making amendments to the legislations on urban development and construction. In the scope of developing ger districts into building estate districts, the infrastructure construction works at the 7th and 14th districts and the area near the building of Mongolian National Broadcaster are being executed with a 300 million USD soft loan from the People’s Republic of China. The Development Bank of Mongolia has started allotting a fund of 23 billion MNT for the implementation of
ger district infrastructure project and construction works. In order to decrease air pollution of Ulaanbaatar city, the government is setting night time energy usage hours and is showing a discount to the electricity bills of households with electric heaters. This discount was applied to 46 thousand households, having received discounts worth 342 million MNT.
Also, at the Cabinet meeting, the Minister for Food, Agriculture and Light Industry T.Badamjunai informed the current situation of the
livestock birth delivery and spring planting. As of June 15, 2012, there were 14 million livestock delivered, where 14.3 million young animals are growing. Currently, around 1 million large cattle are to deliver, thus making the total young animal births at 15 million, which will be the highest number of young animals delivered thus far.
Crop sowing progress is at 94.6%, potatoes at 103.3% and other vegetables are at 84.6%. The Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry has organized a technology and equipment fair for farmers and has provided petroleum, wheat seeds, plant protection substances and mineral fertilizers with a 40-50% down payment loan. Also, high performance tractors and other technical equipment are being supplied with the state budget funding and the soft loan from the People’s Republic of China.
