The Nagoya Basho or the Summer Tournament of the Japanese Grand Sumo wrestling is to start on July 08, 2012. The Japanese Sumo Federation set the dates for the events to be held before and after the Basho.

The wrestlers to participate in this Basho need to arrive in Nagoya city by June 24 as the Banzuke (list of professional Sumo wrestlers according to their rank) will be released on June 25, 2012. On June 26, the wrestlers will hold a meeting and on June 30, the Yokozuna Dohyo-iri (a ring-entering) ceremony by Hakuho M.Davaajargal will take place at the Atsuta Jingu Shrine, also on July 02, a new recruit examination will take place and on July 06 Torikumi Arranging Committee will hold its meeting. On July 07, the Dohyo Matsuri ceremony (a ceremony open to the public the day before a tournament when the dohyo - the ring in which sumo wrestling bouts are held, is sanctified) will be held. The Nagoya Basho tournament will take place in between July 08 and July 22, 2012. On July 25, Aki Basho Banzuke Arranging Committee will hold its meeting to announce the potential wrestlers, who are to gain new titles from the Autumn Tournament. 

Yokozuna Hakuho M.Davaajargal and Sandanme Ryuo E.Sanchirbold, who had a rest in Mongolia for a period of 4 days departed for the Narita Airport on June 21 and flew straight from there to Nagoya city. “I had a nice rest in the steppe of Mongolia. From tomorrow I will start my preparations for the Basho together with Kyokutenho”, said Hakuho to reporters at the Narita Airport. 

Also, from the other sources, a new star, who became the Champion of the previous Basho, Kyokutenho N.Tsevegnyam said to reporters after morning training, “It was quite a busy month for me, being interviewed by the newspapers, magazines and TV channels, nothing like this happened to me before. Till the Nagoya Basho, I am very busy these days because of invitations for events to attend. However, it won’t happen to me again, so I will take all the opportunities to attend, but of course I shall not miss a day of practice for the upcoming Basho”.
