Former President of Mongolia N.Enkhbayar’s trial is postponed for the fifth time
The trial of the Head of the Mongolian People's Revolutionary Party (MPRP) N.Enkhbayar, which had been previously
postponed several times due to the rationales of changing the lawyer, rejecting the lawyer and weak health condition, started today (July 18, 2012) at the Criminal Hall of the Sukhbaatar District Court at 10:00 am.
Although N.Enkhbayar had arrived, his lawyer O.Saingerel did not attend the trial on the ground that her child had fallen ill and is now at the hospital. Thus, N.Enkhbayar requested lawyer S.Narangerel to become his lawyer to replace O.Saingerel. However, attorney S.Narangerel has not familiarized with the case file of the defendant, he has requested the judges to postpone the trial for another month. The State Prosecutor Yo.Sagsai accepted his request, but the trial has been postponed not for a month’s period, but for 13 days. Thus, N.Enkhbayar’s trial is to be held on Tuesday of July 31, 2012.
In this trial, S.Soyombo-Erdene acted as the Presiding Judge, with M.Aldar and S.Oyunchimeg as the General Judges and Yo.Sagsai as the State Prosecutor.
Nambar ENKHBAYAR is being convicted under the Criminal Law of Mongolia, Article 150.3, “Causing large amount of mischief to others”, and Article 163.2, “Acts of repeated or grouped nature, or abuse of power, and gain of a large amount of income”.
