The agreement signature ceremony of mass media and official partner organizations to inquire the XIV Paralympics of the Summer Games was held at the Physical Education and Sports Authority of Mongolia on July 26, 2012.
The Chairman of the Mongolian Paralympics Committee D.Nyamkhuu, Manager of the official partner of the Paralympics “Oyuny Undraa Technologies” LLC G.Erdenebileg and the Deputy Director of the Physical Education and Sports Authority D.Surenkhorloo have participated in this event. The “Shuud” television channel and the “Undesniy Sonin” newspaper have acquired the rights for live transmission of the XIV Paralympics. The sports reporter of the Mongolian National Broadcaster television D.Batjargal will be acting as the press agent for the Mongolian Paralympics Committee.
Mongolian press and media started paying more attention to the Paralympics, following D.Baatarjav who won a Gold medal in archery in the 2008 Beijing Paralympics, after which he received the title of Mongolian Hero of Labor. Thus, this is the first time the Paralympics will be transmitted live in Mongolia.
As of today, a total of 6 athletes are to participate from Mongolia in the London 2012 Paralympics, where they will compete in 4 categories of shooting, judo, archery and track-and-field athletics. The six Mongolian Paralympics athletes, who have received their berths are listed as following:
Bolormaa UUGANKHUU (60kg) and Dashtseren GANBAT (90kg) in men’s judo wrestling
Byambasuren JAVZMAA and Buyanjargal OYUN-ERDENE in women’s archery
Tsedendash LKHAMSUREN in women’s 10m air-pistol shooting
Dashdondog BADRAL in men's shot put, athletics
The Chairman of the Mongolian Paralympics Committee D.Nyamkhuu said, “Originally we had received 9 Olympic berths. There are two types of berths, A class and B class. The A class berths automatically receive their participation rights, whereas the B class berths are listed into a certain delay and the participation rights are decided in time. Currently we have 6 berths. 3 berths are on delay.”
The first group of
Mongolian athletes to head for the Paralympics is leaving for London on August 16, 2012. The opening of the Paralympics will be held on August 29, 2012.
