Folk Arts Festival of the Western Mongolia
The Uvs aimag, affiliate of the Art Council of Mongolia is to organize the "Folk Arts Festival of the Western Mongolia" in Turgen sum, Uvs aimag, this upcoming August 04, 2012. 
This festival was first held in 2005 under the name “Children’s mini festival”, whereas now it has converted into a large scale festival of the far western aimag of Mongolia. A total of 6 ethnic groups (Durvud, Bayad, Khoton, Khoid, Khalkh and Sartuul) live in Uvs aimag.
During the “Folk Arts Festival of Western Mongolia” there will be organized a Naadam (the competitions for the three manly sports: Traditional wrestling, Horse racing and Archery) along with traditional arts of the western Mongolian culture, including Biyelgee (traditional folk dance), Khuumii (throat singing), Morin Khuur (horse headed fiddle) performances, ballad readings, singing and dancing, for locals and foreign tourists. The guests can familiarize and learn the western Mongolian methods of distilling the traditional alcoholic beverage - Sminiin Arkhi, making Airag (fermented mare's milk), and making Aaruul (dried curds a Mongolian cheese-like snack) and Mongolian cheese - Byaslag and much more will be awaiting.
