The Mongolian team have left to France to participate in the second World Mind Sports Games today on August 07, 2012. The World Mind Sports Games is organized once in every four years. The first one was hosted in Beijing, the People's Republic of China in 2008.
From Mongolia a team of 12 draughts players, headed by the 4 times Asian Champion, 10 times National Champion, State Merit Athlete G.Erdenebileg, the International Master of Sports O.Tuvshinbold, the World Draughts Federation Master D.Battulga and R.Manlai will participate in this year’s Games that will take place in Lille, France on August 09-23, 2012.
The Games comprises of five mind sports events: bridge, chess, draughts (checkers), go (weiqi), and xiangqi (Chinese chess). This time Mongolia is sending only draughts players and they will compete in individual, team, rapid and blitz categories. At the Beijing World Mind Sports Games Mongolian draughts player the State Merit Athlete G.Erdenebileg who competed in the rapid event was ranked at 16th place, where Go Game players Ts.Sanchir and R.Tungalag were among the top 8 in the mixed doubles event.
Prior, the
State Draughts Championship 2012 was organized in May of this year, where 16 male and female top players have competed. The winners of the first three places were qualified to participate in the second World Mind Sports Games and the Asian Championship to be held in Kuala Lumpur in September, 2012.
