The father plays a very special role in the life of his children. He is the protector, a caretaker, moral supporter and most importantly, the support pillar of their life. He would not hesitate to sacrifice his desires in order to fulfill the wishes of his family. And this day is a day rejoiced with utmost fervor and enthusiasm. 

August 8th is Father’s Day of Mongolia, a celebration honoring fathers and celebrating fatherhood, paternal bonds and the influence of fathers in society. The Day is being celebrated in Mongolia for its consecutive 7th year since 2005 inaugurated by the Mongolian Men’s Union. The Head of the Union Ya.Purevdorj said, “The Day aims to father heart-to-heart communications between father and child, to strengthen, understanding and to respect their relationships. Let the day bring happiness and joyfulness in all families”.
In the scope of the Day, today at 11:40 am the nine fathers who raised many children and who contributed to good seeds in society were granted and praised at the Wedding Palace. Also, at 14:00 the members of the Union will deliver the children’s messages to fathers who are at the detention center of the capital city located at the Denjiin Myanga, Sukhbaatar District.

Mongolian Men’s Union is a nongovernmental organization established in 2002, with the purpose to increase the father’s role in society, to pay more attention to their health, education and male parenting.

In most countries Father’s Day is celebrated on the third Sunday of June and only in Taiwan (Republic of China) the Day is marked on August 08 as of Mongolia.
