Within the Cabinet meeting of the Ministers held on December 22, it was finally resolved that the location to build the V Thermal Power Plant will be in Bayanzurkh District of Ulaanbaatar (2 km east to the Bayanzurkh Road Post), in particular the area named Khuliin Gol valley between the railroad and “Urgakh Naran” Apartment Residencies.
In order to construct the V Power Plant
, 43 ha of land is needed, hence the Mayor of Ulaanbaatar E.Bat-Uul was obliged to take necessary measurements, for instance evacuate current residencies and issue a land usage license accordingly. Also, within the new location, Minister for Energy M.Sonompil and Minister for Nature, Environment and Green Development S.Oyun were laid duties to make detailed research works on environment and affiliated surveys.
Moreover, Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Roads and Transportation, Ministry of Nature, Environment and Green Development, and Municipal Government of Ulaanbaatar are to co-work on resolving the water supply, coal transportation and ash removing issues regarding the new Plant to be built.
In October 2012, it was decided that the V Thermal Power Plant's construction
is to start in 2013 and finish by 2016, and the location of the Plant was planned to be selected whether the above mentioned area (about 16 km from the center of Ulaanbaatar) or the second version was to the east of Khonkhor area (about 30 km from the center of Ulaanbaatar).
