“Gal Undesten” movement members who threatened with grenades and firearms were arrested
Fortunately the protest ended with no serious accident or casualty and Head of the Investigation Department of the General Intelligence Agency
, Colonel A.Bat-Erdene delivered a brief statement regarding the happened situation as follows.
At the beginning of his statement, Colonel A.Bat-Erdene noted he cannot give detailed information about the matter as it is still under investigation and said, “Around 10:30 am on September 16, members of the “Gal Undesten” movement led by Ts.Munkhbayar
entered the north garden of the Government House
, a state protected area, with grenades and firearms. They attempted to threaten public security and assault some state officials.
The Intelligence Agency took action without losing any time and is currently cooperating with relative organizations to prevent possible dangers. This matter is being considered as a criminal case and is under investigation to be submitted for prosecution. The event is under investigation based on special codex 177 and 91 of the Criminal Law of Mongolia. Currently, we have confiscated 1 semi-automatic carbine, 1 “Saiga” semi-automatic hunting rifle, 46 bullets of 7.62 mm, and 9 hand grenades as firearm evidence. I would like to clarify that no lives were in danger, wounded or injured. The “Gal Undesten” movement
had previously violated social order a couple times, attacking civil property”.
Also, other officials said, “The next warning call came through 102 line at 01:50 pm. This time, the information warned of explosives that had been placed in a garbage can in front of the Central Tower
and the front garden of the Ministry of Environment and Green Development.
Immediately, officials took actions to evacuate citizens and vehicles from and around the Central Tower, Ministry of Environment and Green Development
, Ministry of Mining, General Department of Taxation. As a result of prompt searches by the Police Department, General Intelligence Agency, unit 084 of the Armed Forces, and Emergency Management organizations found a TNT (trotyl) hand-made “bomb” in a garbage can in front of Central Tower at around 03:30 pm and at 05:30 pm, the same substance was found from the front garden of the Ministry of Mining
. A joint work group has been established by the General Intelligence Agency, Criminal Police Department, and the State Investigation Office to identify the people who placed these explosives”.
