The biggest wave of outside migration of modern day Mongolia has started when 50,000 Kazakh people moved to newly independent the Republic of Kazakhstan during 1991 - 1993. According to an unofficial count about 200,000 Mongolians reside in 80 countries throughout the world, and an official report by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Mongolia shows about 100,000 Mongolians live and work in foreign countries. Nonetheless, the 5-10% of Mongolian labor force equals to population of 1 to 2 aimags that reside in foreign countries. Mongolia has established the diplomatic and permanent counsils in about 40 foreign countries that protect Mongolian citizens’ rights. About 600 thousand Mongolian citizens travel abroad per year.

[1] 2,900 Mongolians live in Beijing, 2,500 Mongolians live in Inner Mongolia. 2,000 students. 4,000 to 5,000 Mongolian citizens travel to Hong Kong. About 400   Mongolian women live there illegally, therefore Mongolian council has established.
[2] 2,000 Mongolians live in Western Japan, Kansai region. Therefore, Mongolian Council was established on Osaka.
[3] 90,000 of them work. 46,000 people have dual citizenship, currently they become 130,000 with their children.
[4] About 5,000 of them study. 1,900 Mongolians live in Moscow.

[6] Mongolians live in 200 cities in almost in every state. 4,400 Mongolians live in Washington DC. 50 thousand US Visa have been issued since 1998.
