According to a press release by Genie Energy, Ltd. issued on Friday, April 19, the company's subsidiary, Genie Oil Shale Mongolia, LLC (Genie Mongolia), and the Petroleum Authority of Mongolia (PAM) have entered into an exclusive oil shale development agreement to explore and evaluate the commercial potential of oil shale resources on a 34,470 sq.km area in Central Mongolia.

According to the National Statistical Office of Mongolia, the national consumer price index in March 2013, increased by 0.8 percent compared to the previous month, 3.6 percent compared to the beginning of the year and 9.8 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. The increase in national index compared to the previous month was mainly due to 0.8 percent increase in 1.8 percent food and non-alcoholic beverages. 

On April 08, 2013, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Mongolia L.Bold has attended the World Economic Forum in Baku, Azerbaijan, where more than 200 state and government heads and business leaders discussed the economic situation in South Caucasus and Central Asia during the two-day meeting.

The Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of the Central Bank of Mongolia held its regular meetings on April 03 and April 05, 2013, and resolved to cut its policy interest rate by 1.0 percentage point to 11.5 percent for the purpose of increasing domestic credits and investments, supporting the real sector and stimulating business activities, which is effective from April 08, 2013. 

On April 04, 2013, Minister of the Cabinet Office of the Government of Mongolia Chimed SAIKHANBILEG received at his office Mr. Francisco J. Sanchez, Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade at the Department of Commerce of the United States to discuss mutual cooperation on trade and economy.

On March 27, 2013, Minister of the Cabinet Office of the Government of Mongolia Ch.Saikhanbileg submitted a bill to Deputy Speaker of the State Great Khural (Parliament) M.Enkhbold to make some amendments on the Law on Regulation of the Foreign Investments in the Strategically Significant Industries.
